I took the photo in the tropical forest of French GuianaTime
It was taken around lunch time.Lighting
Mother nature did everything: it was a nice diffused light from the overcast.Equipment
I had my trusty Canon Powershot A720 IS with me and could get very close to this little guy to take a handheld close-up.Inspiration
I noticed this frog right after lunch and it looked so lazy and content, like it also just had a meal. I just had to take a photo of him. I chose this angle and depth-of-field because it actually enhances the feeling of laziness, quiet, and peace. :)Editing
No post-processing.In my camera bag
In my everyday bag (Lowepro Fastpack 350) I carry a Canon 60D with a 24-105 4.0 L IS lens, a Canon EF 50mm 1.8 II lens, a 430 EX II speedlite, 2 Yongnuo YN-622C Wireless flash triggers, canon remote, a small tripod, a small reflector, DIY white and black cards for my flash, macro rings, chargers, batteries for the camera and flash, sd cards, card reader, cables and a lens cleaner kit. I also carry my laptop and external HDD for immediate post-processing. With this equipment I feel that I'm prepared for 80-90% photo situations.Feedback
In the tropical forest there is so much life I can't even begin to describe. Everything is worth photographing there. Events can happen so fast and if you don't have at least a little camera with you, you might miss the chance. Take the safe shots (from a distance and/or with a small camera) then bring out the big guns if you have them, but don't miss the event, for the sake of equipment adequacy. Have a pocket camera and use it (mine was and still is one of the best, due to the manual control I can have with it).
