Venice is the fairy tale city of history and travel. Traveling about only on water and on foot is the answer to the city worker who gets stuck in vehicles on highways. It has its advantages and disadvantages but to the visitor, it’s fun. To the people that live there, it’s a way of life. It’s interesting to imagine a teenage boy getting his first car which is a boat or a teenage girl being picked up for the prom by a date in a boat. Practically speaking, I can see that a Venice resident would stay in shape because walking is a way of life.
In this photograph, we’re looking out over the main thoroughfare of Venice—the Giodecca Canal. This canal teems with vaporettos, the taxi of Venice, as well as private boats. Everything takes place on this canal, along with the smaller canals—police, ambulances, trash pickup, supply delivery. And there are the iconic gondolas, of course.

Great vista you created here Kay. Although not noted for it's cuisine like some other towns and cities in the region, it makes up in architecture, art work, landscapes and the wonderful gondola's for those with a photographic appetite,

Ah Venice. I've read many books situated there and would love to see with my own eyes. Alas I can see it through yours!
