Dubrovnik is on the Adriatic Sea in southern Croatia. Its biggest claim to fame among tourists is the walled Old Town, dating from the 16th century. The Placa or Stradun is a delightful place to wander on a sunny afternoon, where you have your choice of shops, restaurant, beautiful Adriatic scenery. Dubrovnik has been a World Heritage Sites since 1979.
As a point of history, Dubrovnik was continually shelled for seven months by Serbian and Montenegrin soldiers from the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) and suffered significant damage. The city emerged triumphant after much restoration, and is now one of the most popular tourist destination in the Mediterranean.
In this photograph, the bell tower stands tall and proud. It dates back to the 15th century. This “new tower” replaced the one built in 1385.

It looks so tranquil here in your superb architectural perspective. If I remember correctly, the town has been around since the 7th century and being ruled by several different peoples.
