Behind The Lens

Location

we were taking a walk in the mountains near Bozeman, the wheather was not so good

Time

it was afternoon, and suddenly, I saw it. I had seen more before, but this one was really cute.I started to follow him, with caution. It took me an hour to approach it a bit, even though I was using my telephoto lens, the formidable Nikkor 70-200 mm and above all, benefit from an interesting background when he perched on a rock to nibble (it's not me who fed it: it's written everywhere, do not feed the animals, it's harmful for them) It was fun and I was ready to spend the day if needed, but I immediately felt like I had an interesting photo among those I made at that time.

Lighting

The weather was a little dull and the lighting rather mediocre, I deliberately a little overexposed the photo to give it relief

Equipment

It was my faithful Nikon D 300 S I have been using it since July 2010 and the Nikkor 70 - 200 mm VR II. Most of the time, I use a Nikkor DX 16 - 85 mm, but, to photograph a small animal like this chipmunk, the telephoto lens is of course more appropriate.

Inspiration

I love animals and photograph them, especially in their environment and when to take the time to tame them.

Editing

Yes, I raised a little colors and I like to use a little accentuation to gain sharpness.

In my camera bag

My camera, my two Nikkor lens as I already said, a focal doubler, a tripod and for night photos, a Hanhel combi TF.......... and water !

Feedback

Take time, do not be discouraged if dozens of attempts are failed. At one time or another it works, you have to persevere and take it as a game. If it is not today it will be tomorrow, and sometimes it takes a little luck. Be patient !
