Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken near my house (Corrèze, France). There is a meadow with four horses. More often, they are quiet, but sometimes, they fight a little, specially with the white horse. I stayed a long time for watch them. I thought that it was possible to catch a special attitude, and sudenly, they began to fight. The braun horse bit the white.Time
It was the end of the day.Lighting
The end of the day get a beautiful golden light, quite a sunset light. It was really interesting for the coat of the horses but, most of the time there was in the shadow because of big trees around the meadow.Equipment
My camera is a Nikon D300S. I was far away the horses, so I used my Nikkor zoom 70-200 mm VR II with a lens converter.Inspiration
I wanted captur a special moment of fight between the two horses. It' difficult to say if it's just a play or a real fight. It last a short time, and I tried to show this short moment with intensity,Editing
I make darker the background to stand out the horses. I used some sharpness for the brown horse. I leaved the white horse a little blurry to create the impression of movement.In my camera bag
My Nikon D300S, two zoom lenses : Nikkor DX 16-85 mm, Nikkor 70-200mm VR II, a teleconverter Nikon. A Benro tripod with a Manfrotto head. A nisi filters holder V6 with a polarizer filter and some long exposure filters.Feedback
With animals, we must be patient, we have to move slowly, without make noise. We do accept to past time and to think that sometimes it could be impossible to take a good picture. And try again an other day : We can take a lot of picture not really interesting. One day one picture will be good ! It takes a lot of humility ! A good lesson.
