I fancied my luck this weekend. It's the tail end of Milky Way season in this part of the world and a forecast hinting at a break in the relentless miserable weather was all I needed to get me out shooting again.

We found ourselves on a spur-of-the-moment adventure around the Gower, trying to navigate a route to Three Cliffs that I've never walked before, getting tantalising glimpses of the stars through gaps in the clouds as we went.

When we got there, we had the bay to ourselves and fleeting views of the galactic core as it protruded out from beyond the murky clouds. A real night to remember.
