Location
Was taken in the tarpon springs area in Florida. This is one of several islands on the way out to the Gulf of MexicoTime
Shot was taken in the morning around 11a. Keeping track of the tide was important in this case. At high tide half the tree is submerged and you can only see the top half.Lighting
Was trying to get there early morning to get the light behind me but didn’t get setup till after 11a. Sun was higher then I wanted it but it ended up working wellEquipment
Canon 5dsr with a 24mm lens and formant hitech 16stop ND filterInspiration
I pass by the island every time I go boating and have been planning it for a while. The low water level makes it difficult to navigate close to the island with a boat. Had to walk in water for a bit to get close to another island to take the shot.Editing
Processing in Lightroom and photoshopIn my camera bag
My bag has a 5dsr, 24mm tilt shift and a 17mm tilt shift. A good ND filter system and a remote trigger. I try not to carry too much as a lot of shots require a good hike or walk to get to.Feedback
Always study the subject and do as much research as possible to be fully prepared when you take the shot.
