The boat we were on was big enough for about 40 people (and crew), so it wasn't that small. They also served food and unlimited drinks. :)

Location
Just off the Na Pali on the island of Kauai, HI.Time
Mid afternoon.Lighting
All natural. :) The Sun was nowhere special -certainly not the 'Golden hour' but the presence of clouds over the range added incredible drama.Equipment
I used by (then) Canon 60D and the 17-40mm L f4. I took quite a few shots because we were on a rocking boat with people getting sick all around me.Inspiration
I think this particular scenery sort of provided its own inspiration, similar to places like the Grand Canyon. I was also lucky enough for great skies and clouds this day.Editing
I sharpened, boosted the vibrancy, and used a curve layer to adjust the contrast. Also some denoising in the sky. Oh yes, and leveling -an absolute must for anything with a straight horizon. In my camera bag
Not much. My camera body, in this case my 60D (I shoot with a 7D Mark II now), usually (just) one extra lens (telephoto) and an extra battery. Oh yes, and lens wipes to clean my glass which in this case was pretty frequently.Feedback
The biggest thing to capturing this, and often the biggest hurdle, is simply being able to go to where scene like this exist. Oh yes, and a little luck. We live in Arizona and soooo often when traveling around the state we having nothing but clear blue skies. Great for hiking but not so much for photography.
