This shot was taken August 2015 on Lake Huron, Michigan. Perfect summer morning.Time
This is one of my favorite shots that I have taken and it has a special meaning to me. The original photograph was taken early in the morning. I had tried the day before to catch the sunrise, I missed it by an hour. There was a warm breeze off the lake, the water was warm and the sand was a bit cool on my feet. There was a calm and peaceful feeling as I shot several photographs and shot a video of the sun on the lake. There were 2 ducks swimming by heading towards the dock.Lighting
I'm still learning about lighting and I've made many errors along the way on what to do and not. I used the natural light of the start of the day along with the sun. I have much to learn about lightning and I look forward to all the new things I learn.Equipment
This was shot with an Apple iPod TouchInspiration
This photograph was shot several days after my Cousin's wedding. The trip was a memorable one and I enjoyed the time with my family immensely. I don't often get to visit the extended family as much as I would like since they live in another state. The last time I was on Lake Huron was 2010 the year my Grandfather passed away. The cottage where this photograph was taken holds special memories for meEditing
With landscape photography I usually do a lot of post processing. I'm still learning about how to shoot photographs with my iPod so the shot came out a bit darker than I had wanted. I uploaded all photos to my laptop and processed them in Lightroom 4. I try several different ideas before settling in on a finished piece. I have many favorite presets that I use by Trey Ratcliff and his HDR presets are the best! I'm very picky when it comes to determining whether a photograph is considered finished and worthy to upload, this is one that turned out wonderful. In my camera bag
At the time this photograph was taken I used my iPod Touch. I also brought my Nikon D3000 with a 18-55mm lens and 55-200mm lens. This past month I purchased a Tamron 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 Di LD Macro Zoom Lens with Built In Motor.Feedback
One thing that I'm learning with every new shot that I take is to be patient. That goes for all aspects including the scenery you are shooting, rushing through sometimes can cause an opportunity to be missed. Be prepared for things to change and I always take more than one shot. Each shot is a bit different than the one prior, for me its better to be safe than sorry.
