This is a portrait crop of my first "Hawks Nest" image made by the suggestion of another View Bug member, Hans. I had to crop it very tightly to get a portrait image that I thought worked, thank goodness I used a D800 for the original. Please feel free to compare the images and make comments. Thank you Hans!

I prefer this one. I like the way my eyes follow the curves then explore the wall.

I with the preference of this composition, with the road as the sole subject, but I think the quality and the lighting contrast has suffered from the very tight crop. Funny thing is I have a number shots with this very same POV but they all have multiple cars and/or bikes in them or the lighting was very flat. A return trip is already on my calendar! Great conversation, like VB says "Let's get better together!".

I like the other one, think it has more depth and can sense a descent along the road.

One of the best motorcycling roads in the area . . . Love the Hawk's Nest. Great shot!
