Lava from the Kilauea Volcano entering the Pacific Ocean. Shot in the pre-dawn hours from a tour boat while holding the camera as close to the water as I dared. I pushed the ISO as high as I thought I could without getting too much noise but somehow I forgot to turn on high ISO noise reduction! Many shots that morning had excess motion blur from the lack of light and the motion of the boat, as you can tell the water was a bit rough. At 1-60 of a second and no image stabilization I was happy to get a few usable shots. I had to really work for a balance of selective noise reduction and sharpening on this one. Also I actually lowered the saturation in post, if you can believe that. I consider myself a very lucky man to have witnessed this in person and even more lucky to have captured a few images to remember it vividly.
