Captured after spending 6 consecutive weekends in the hot Florida sun waiting for just such a shot. Shot at an effective focal length of 975mm. What a great feeling it was to open the days files at home to find I finally had some good sharp frame filling images of Eagles. I had been after some quality shots of Raptors since purchasing my first DSLR in 2009, to no avail. In the first couple of weeks at the nest I knew my lenses were not up to the task so I started renting "big glass" along with a large tripod with a gimbal mount. This was shot on the last day of my rental period with a Nikon 200-400mm lens, and a 1.7x teleconverter. I feel very lucky to have been able to witness a cycle of life while the Eaglets grew up and to capture many memorable images over a 3 month period of time.
