I had the opportunity to spend some time chatting with Brian Matiash and Nicole S. Young who were visiting Australia and had organised a Google+ walk in Melbourne. Both Brian and Nicole had been savouring what our Great Southern Land had to offer, and had been privy to several shots being posted by members of a Melbourne Photowalkers Community on Google+ of which I am a member of too.
Brian had taken a particular interest in this location – and why wouldn’t one… its is historic, and the post-piles are the remnants of a former pier which is now quite the public hangout for the residents of Port Melbourne.
Earlier this morning, I had taken a drive that way, after seeing that the sunrise was looking very promising. A few anglers had already pitched their spots and were having a yarn as I showed up to take this particular shot. I am quite happy to say that very little has been done to this image from its version that came straight out of camera – which is an indication that the light and conditions were just perfect. I do however have to be grateful for having an ND400 filter at my disposal. They rock!
If you are visiting Melbourne, and would like to get to this spot, consider looking up this Google Map that I have put together at http:--goo.gl-maps-G8QUB.
