Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at the height of winter, in -3°C, ice everyehere, in a old corn field beside the road! In Ireland, this is rare! Poor Lia my model was an absolute trooper during the shoot!

Time

Neither myself or Lia are morning people. But I was up checking my hens, and noticed the fog and ice! Bingo! In the stuff went to my van, rang Lia, got us coffee and collected her. Would have been about 9am. By the time we stopped talking and flaffing about with wigs and extensions it was 10.30 or so.

Lighting

All natural light. We get fog in my area about twice a year. When it comes it's very surreal and beautiful. Why we made the effort and got out of bed!

Equipment

My trust old lady, 5DM2, and my other equally trusty 2.8, 70-200mm lens. That's it!

Inspiration

I'm a bit obsessed with old irish folklore. I'm also fantasy obsessed. I got gifted the antlers. I saw a lot of stage images, with their trophies on the antlers, thought they looked very beautiful. So with the fog, ice, and gear I have I just seen this image in my head of Lia.

Editing

Aw yeah! Theres 3 images in there, color corrections, retouching etc.

In my camera bag

The trusty camera, lens, gold foil, smoke bombs, lipsticks, gloss, baby wipes, mosquito repellent, spray SPF, water for myself and model, snacks.....keep warm is separate but comes anyway.

Don't try to copy, it'll not happen where the weather elements all align, were in top form and it's just magical. Do your own take on it! Be unique, be yourself!
