Took this photo down a....dark gap in the local forest. It was lashing rain, like rain as only Ireland can get! If course I left my weather cover for the camera at home - brains to burn! Just meant we didn't waste any time!Time
It was around midday, but it was February-Did i mention it was lashing rain? So it was very dark, Kamilla had to hold her poses slightly longer to let the camera focus. I've a older lady, she takes her time!Lighting
It's all natural light!Equipment
I've just got a old canon 5DM2, and a 70-200, 2.8. Hand held, no lights or flash.Inspiration
I've a thing for Maleficent, but didn't want to do the usual dark one. Kamilla has blonde hair so i made a frame, stuck it on a reinforced hairband and covered it in fake hair. Used her own to blend in. Dress is a vintage 80s lady, which I bought lace for and tea dyed to match up to the dress color. So a bit of diy behind the outfit.Editing
Yep, lots and lots of colour adjustment layers! Basic retouch, nothing major needed, no split frequency needed for the dress or model, after that just masks of colour adjustments. In my camera bag
Camera & lens, smoke bombs, gold foil, fake jewels on the sheets, lipsticks..... and chocolate!Feedback
If your shooting in the lashing rain make sure to being the cameras rain gear! All you model to slow their movement, this allows you to keep the ISO reasonable and reduce noise. Keep an eye on your distance, a telephoto allows you to zoom in, but a wider lens would let in more light. Keep an eye on your histogram and whitebalance. Have fun!!
