Behind The Lens

Location

A very glamorous elephant grass bush beside a main road. A very busy main road! The sun was shining so bright that I turned Anna into the shade, which gave that unique light through the grasses and her headdress.

Time

It was just after 2pm, very bright and sunny. I try to find spots that you can utilise the shade as well.

Lighting

All natural light! No reflector, the tarmac was throwing enough back up.

Equipment

Just my trusty canon 5DM2 and my F2.8, 70-200.

Inspiration

I'm obsessed with sugar skulls and Day of the Dead. I got in contact with Sian, an amazing make up artist I know from my work in the TV/Film industry, who was right on board. Anna was over the moon to model for us. I'd a tiny tiny edwardian outfit that fitted her perfectly. After that it was a combined effort to create the overall experience.

Editing

Yes, color tone and balancing. Basic skin retouching and overall processing to get the colors and mood I wanted.

In my camera bag

Gold foil, stick on jewels, sun screen, mosquito repellent, spare batteries, check bags for makeup (foundation, concealer, anti shine) and hair (comb, hairspray, pins, net).

Feedback

Get the glue gun out and have fun!
