Location
This photo was taken in our front yard. The sky had just cleared after a short rain spurt and the colors were enhanced beautifully by nature.Time
This photograph was taken in the early morning hours, low light with filtered sun.Lighting
The berries were protected by the leaves which filtered the sun and made the berry color pop. Early morning light and no sun glare was a great combination.Equipment
I took this photo with my Nikon D5000 and my macro lens. No tripod or flash.Inspiration
I looked out our picture window and immediately saw the brilliant display of purple berries and perfect lighting. It was one of those moments where you run to get your camera before the conditions and lighting change.Editing
I do minimal editing, basically what I call fine tuning. I tend to crop a photo to give it the best presentation. In my camera bag
I pack my Nikon D5000 and what I consider to be essentials. I always keep an extra battery, Scandisk, cleaning solution, lens covers, and a rain duck (since I live in the Pacific Northwest). I recently switched to a Tamron 16-300mm as my "go to" lens and I always carry my work horse Nikon 18-55mm. I also use my iPhone as a back up.Feedback
Framing your subject and having a vision of what you want to capture is key. Using the most optimal light to showcase your subject is the difference between a good picture and a great picture. Take multiple shots from different angles. I find that taking photographs in all types of weather and lighting gives you the most diverse and interesting photographs.
