Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Samburu National Reserve in Kenya Africa. We were on a photography safari.

Time

This photo of the giraffe was taken on the second game drive of the day around 5:00pm. I just loved how he stopped eating and peaked his head above the trees!

Lighting

It was a beautiful sunny day on January 25, 2017 at Samburu National Reserve. I was able to shoot at a low ISO of 200.

Equipment

This photo was shot with the Olympus OMD EM1 Mark II Mirrorless Camera. Lens 40-150 mm 2.8 with Converter MC-14. No flash was used. I was standing in the seat with my camera on a bean bag out of the top of the land rover we were riding in.

Inspiration

I loved the way the giraffe was peeking at us as if to say " Hey, What are you doing"!

Editing

I shoot in RAW. I imported it into lightroom and did a quick clean edit and light noise reduction. This photo was not cropped.

In my camera bag

I have 2 cameras in my bag: Olympus OMD EM1 and Olympus OMD EM1 Mark II. I carry all of the PRO lens that fit the Olympus Mirrorless Camera. My husband and I are both photographers so we share the lens. But we each have an Olympus OMD EM1 and a Olympus OMD EM1 Mark II. If I am not using my bean bag resting on a hard surface, then I prefer to use a monopod. I prefer it over a tripod for most of my photography.

Feedback

Go on a safari in Kenya Africa. Go with guides that know where to find the animals and the birds. I love the lightweight of the Olympus camera for traveling. I have now sold all of my heavy Canon cameras and lens. Most important advice... go out everyday and shoot with your camera.
