Location
This photo was taken not far from where I live between two villages called Hannington and Kingsclere in the county of Hampshire. A beautiful part of the country in the South of the UKTime
This was an image I was not expecting to capture as I went out to get the sunset. It was a beautiful evening and I decided to go for a walk with my camera, as I was approaching the top of a hill near where I live turning around to see the moon just coming up and approaching one of these pylons. so that was like a red rag to a photographer and just had to take a few shots of it , as luck would have it one of the shots was this one and I was well pleased with it.Lighting
I was just very lucky with the lighting for this image as the sun was going down and the moon was coming up opposite each other so giving the lower sky that darker light and the moon a lovely red orange glow.Equipment
Shot with a Canon 80D with a Tamron 70-200. F2.8 Di VC USD Lens. Settings used F2.8 @ 200mm and iso 200, 1/1000 sec. Hand held.Inspiration
The inspiration for this shot was the placement of the moon above the pylon and the beautiful setting sun causing the moon to glow as it was just so unusual to see it like that, I am so glad that I went out with my camera that evening. Just a lucky shot and being in the right place at the right time.Editing
Just an edit in Lr to dehaze the moon and to bring out the definition of its surface with slight adjustments to clarity, contrast and exposure. In my camera bag
My walk around bag is a Manfrotto Advanced Pixi shoulder bag. Camera Canon 80D, lenses Canon 50mm f1.8, Tamron 70-200 f.2.8 Di VC and a Canon 24-70 f4 L Is. Also a couple of remotes wireless and wired. Polarizing Hoya filter and a small pack of spare SD cards and spare battery with assorted Lens pens and cleaning clothes with small bottle of lens cleaning fluid. On the out side I have a small bean bag clipped to it.Feedback
My advice on how to capture an image like this is to have your camera with you at all times so you are always ready to photograph the unusual or like me, that lucky one off. I have found with photography it does not matter how strange or unusual a composition looks as long as it is different to every other photographers images, because you find that there are so many images now looking the same but taken by different photographers. Just be different and be yourself as it is an art, inspiration can sometimes come from the strangest places to give you that one shot and your best photo ever.
