Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken at Models's flat – this one was captured in her living room.

Time

It was fun to work with her and totally our session took around 4 hours. This photo was taken on a cold November day, around 2 p.m.

Lighting

Specially for Home Photoshoots I prefer to work with natural light. So the only light source were the two windows.

Equipment

This was shot on a D700 (oldie but goldie) with the AF-S 50mm f/1.8G – a very simple but reliable Cam / Lens combination.

Inspiration

I love to challange natural light on location – that's the reason, why I like home locations so much for photo sessions there. Tamara is a wonderful person and it was a great pleasure to work with her.

Editing

Some corrections for white balance, shadows and highlights in Lightroom, basic retouch steps and color grading in Photoshop.

In my camera bag

Normally two Bodies (a D700 and a D810), always and any time: The AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8G, a AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G, and a Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM.

Feedback

Find the right light (for you), ask your model to move in a way, that you're can find the light you want. Always pay attention on light and shadow edges in the main part of your photo.
