Location
This was shot at Camp Atterbury, in Indiana.Time
Early afternoon, on a bright July day.Lighting
The sun was directly behind me, casting dramatic shadows into the car's interior.Equipment
This was shot with my Panasonic DMC-GH2 and a Lumix 7-14mm, zoomed out wide.Inspiration
I was on my way back home, after a year and a half in Kuwait, working at a remote desert installation for the DoD. Camp Atterbury was my "out-processing" station. This single rail car sat next to their "museum". It was apparently once the personal car of William Atterbury, President of the Pennsylvania Railroad. In a sea of identical barracks buildings that extended practically as far as the eye could see, this was the only spot of color!Editing
It needed a little bit of perspective correction in PaintShop Pro, my fave program of many years. I also goosed the color a bit, and added the vignette. What took the most time was retouching out my shadow -- the sun was right behind me.In my camera bag
These days, I usually just carry an Oly OMD EM1 with a Samyang 7.5m and a Nikon P900.Feedback
You can't beat a really wide lens for creating that extra hit of drama.
