Location
This was shot from the mezzanine level in the Centre de Conférence, Montreal, Quebec. It was getting near dinner time and I was headed for one of their restaurants.Time
Late afternoonLighting
In daytime, this enormous atrium is mostly lit by its skylights and towering glass façade. The cloudy afternoon cast the cathedral across the street in very soft light, creating a vivid contrast with the foreground window's harsh, gridlike silhouette.Equipment
Shot with my Nikon P900, hand-held.Inspiration
I was taken with all the drama - the soft outside light with the harsh silhouette, the curves of the dome with the rigid lines of the panes, the juxtaposition of a small cathedral framed within a huge window.Editing
All it needed was a little perspective correx with PaintShop Pro, to get the lines perfectly rectilinear. And conversion to monochrome of course, but it was halfway there already! In my camera bag
These days I usually just carry an Oly OMD with a Samyang 7.5m fisheye and a Nikon P900Feedback
Don't let hunger preoccupy vision ;-)
