Location
At Barra, Mozambique during a deep sea fishing trip where my task was to take the vehicle and trailer home after the boat was launched.Time
Sunrise started at about 5 am and I waited on the beach for the right moment to catch the clour os the sun and the rays piercing the thick clouds over the Indian Ocean.Lighting
The natural colour made it easy to wait for the correct exposure.Equipment
I used a Nikon D3100 with a 18-55mm Nikor lense, handheld.Inspiration
I am an early morning person and utilise every opportunity to capture sunrises, especially over the ocean. During this trip I took many sunrise shots but this one was the most satisfying, especially with the ridge with tress on the right horison and people walking in the beach.Editing
I use Photoshop Elements 11 for post-processing and with this photo I increased the vibrance slightly to enhance the yellow and applied sharpening. In my camera bag
A Nikon D3000 and D3100, Sigma 10-20 mm, Sigma 70-300mm, Sigma 50mm and Tamron 150-500mm lenses, ND and circular polarising filters and flash (which I seldom use!)Feedback
Rise before the sun does and wait patiently for the right scene and moment to capture the scene.Remember to keep the horizon horizontal and apply the rule of thirds whenever possible.
