Location
A dam in the Pilanesberg Nature Reserve, North West Province, South Africa.Time
The photo was taken in the morning with the sun still fairly low.Lighting
It was a clear, sunny morning and the elephant was having a drink, where-after it started to walk towards the rest of the heard.Equipment
I used a Nikon D3100 camera with a Tamron 70-300mm lens.Inspiration
I was looking for a scene where the rule of thirds could be applied with interesting subjects. The tree and elephant did it!Editing
I adjusted the lighting slightly and sharpened the image with Photoshop Elements 11.In my camera bag
I have a large camera bag with Nikon D3000 and D3100 bodies with the next lenses: Sigma 10-20mm, Nikon 105 micro, Nikor 18-55mm and Tamron 70-300mm. In a separate bag I carry my Sigma 150-500mm lens.Feedback
Choose the scene carefully and wait patiently for the wild animals to arrive and provide the perfect scene.
