Location
This photo was taken in the Addo Elephant Park, Eastern Cape, South Africa during one of our regular visits to one of the numerous wild gage parks in our country. I prefer to take landscape photos, but sometimes some beautiful animals like these appear on the scene.Time
I prefer to take photos during the the golden hours of the day and this one was taken during the early hours of the day, shortly after sunrise.Lighting
The soft light of the early morning gave the opportunity to avoid harsh shadows. The is nothing better than natural light to create good photos!Equipment
This photo was shot with a Nikon D3100 camera with a 150-500 mm Sigma lens form a stationary vehicle without a tripod.Inspiration
Zebras have unique features and no two individuals look the same, with the stripes different on each. Their behaviour is often hilarious due to playfulness and great communication amongst a group. These three formed a separate group and I wanted to capture them as such.Editing
I used Photoshop Essential 11 to convert the photo to black and white, increased sharpness and improved the contrast. In my camera bag
My two permanent companions are a Nikon D3000 and a Nikon 3100 body, a Nikor 18-55mm lens and a Nikkor 105mm micro lens for close-up and macro shots. On landscape expeditions I will pack a Sigma 10-20mm lens, and on bird and wildlife tours I will take a Tamron 70-300mm and a Sigma 150-500mm lens along. I seldom use a tripod.Feedback
Select an appropriate venue, get to know the wild life there and be patient and quiet until the right moment arrives!
