It reminds me of one of the early episodes of the X-Files, when a group of Harley Davidson bikers emerged from a setting like this: light and dust.

Location
I toook it from my bedroom window looking at the sunrise in the east, towards the volcano. it can be spectacular on stormy daysTime
You'd never guess, it was at sunrise. 6:18 Nikon tells me.Lighting
The sun did the job very nicely, illuminating the clouds nicely. It changes very quickly so you better know where a manual lens has its infinity.Equipment
A Nikon d3 , a very vintage Tamron 300mm from 1986 and my arms. No tripod or gimmicks needed.Inspiration
it is a great pleasure to see something very positive in the morning. I love to see the four elements of clean energy from my window, just like the "Viento, sol, agua y volcanes" slogan : (Wind, sun, water and volcanoes: Nicaragua’s renewable energy programme) Costa Rica has been 100% renewable for a few years now so I hope it spreads.Editing
I fiddled for a minute with contrast and white balance and for another minute with a grad filter, discarded the latter, removed a dust and exported from Lightroom. In my camera bag
In that case, it means keep the camera and the tele near you bedside. Ususally, I always have the d4 and a vintage 18mm, a 24-35 and some sharp and fast tele in my bag, either the 85 1.4 (old, from sigma) or my 150mm macro. If I'm after birds or insects, it takes a longer tele than that. Can be a ridiculously heavy one or just the 200-500 if I am too lazy for heavy and don't know what will come up. Water is also essential. Because my stuff is old and reliable it doesn't gobble up too many batteries so I don't need spares.Feedback
Know the landscape around your house. Whereever I lived, I had my sunset and sunrise favourites for certain times of the year. The further from the equator, the more time you have. -near the equator like here in Costa Rica , you need to be there on time. No margin for errors.
