It was initially completed in 1586 by the samurai ruler of Japan, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who managed to unify Japan successfully. It took three years to complete the Castle. Its five-story central tower features an exterior covered in gold leaf and ornaments. Also, it features eight giant fusetora (golden tiger) decorations and golden shachi (a mythical creature with the head of a tiger and the body of a carp) roof ornaments. It is one of the most frequently visited sites by tourists in Japan.
