Storytelling Wildlife Photography taken in a natural landscape. This is one of a selection of images of a cute and funny little wading bird called a Sanderling which I captured on a local beach on the Isle of Anglesey , off the North wales mainland , UK at sunset. I called it , 'The Odd one Out', for obvious reasons. This little sanderling standing away from the others and preening certainly had misguided priorities. Rather than taking the short opportunity to feed in the surf of the incoming tide, or doing his job of protecting the rest of the flock as they fed, he had chosen to have a wash instead. Vanity above Survival at such a crucial time by the seashore , at some point , despite my affection for his little face, I know in my heart that at some point he will be the first to go. The shoot proved the theory that local knowledge ,preparation and a lot of luck with the weather are important when managing to capture natural wildlife images. The shoot was done using my nikkon with 70-300mm lens from a high pov and with burst mode at certain points in the birds activity. I was standing completely still not from from the scurrying flock giving them time to get accustomed to my presence so that they would feel confident enough to pass me by. Unfortunately, just as the birds were about to pass me and give me an opportunity to capture them in less shadow a dog walker arrived with a big dog off the leash and forced them all to scatter in fear. I just hope that I get the opportunity to get them again soon.
