Architectural heritage landscape photography. Taken from a rear exterior perspective at the beginning of Spring at Penrhyn Castle, Bangor, North Wales, UK. I particularly liked this landscape aspect of this castle taken at this time of the year in the afternoon because of the vivid contrast of colour , light and shadow that can be produced . The natural light and the bare tree branches combine to create a slight feeling of foreboding as well as enhancing the magnitude of the building and depth of field whilst highlighting the smaller architectural details and the landscape beyond when taken from a low point of vision. I called it , 'Wealth of Wales', because although it may have many of the characteristics of a medieval castle it was actually built by the Lord from money made during the Industrial Revolution , as a sort of Richmans Folly , using his wealth to prove he could build a better castle than the ones he had visited.
