Last summer while driving our RV along I-90 near the Vantage bridge in Washington State we came upon an unusual display. Racing along the bluff above the Columbia River were 15 wild stallions. Each was made of pieces of iron, some of which had been painted. Officially titled, "Grandfather Cuts Loose the Ponies," they were sculpted by David Govedare in 1989. Rain in the intervening time had added a rusty patina to the range of colors.
