While not quite as flashy as the male of this species (brilliant red body with black wings and mask) the female is beautiful with her subtle coloring. Light orange or salmon colored belly, white breast and neck with brown upper parts she especially looks nice when viewed from below. She perched on this bare branch against a clear blue sky.
