Abstract Aerial Nature Landscape Photography. Taken from the highest point on the climb down South Stack of the Cliff rock formations below the iconic South Stack Lighthouse , Isle of Anglesey , UK. I wanted to achieve an aerial perspective of these beautiful cliff rocks , which seem ton rise from the tidal waters telling the tale in their strata of how time has passed since the world began. I had the possibility of using a drone but chose to take the image while hanging off the adjacent part of the cliff at the highest point that this angle could be created quite close to the last climb up to the peak of Holyhead Mountain. This involved a slight climb along the ridges above the steps to the Lighthouse cliff and with ropes attached a handheld continuous shooting sequence with a wide angle whilst supporting my body and feet upon a tiny ridge of rock. It needed to be taken in the right weather and at the right hour of the day to prevent any distortion of the colour by sunrise , sunset or overly bright afternoon sun. It is very hard to get a day like this on the Isle of Anglesey because of the harsh winds that hit the island usually creating some degree of water or sea mist and making it impossible to balance on a ridge without danger anyway. I probably choose to make things more difficult for myself but I prefer creatively to get the images of the natural world I want using just myself , my camera and the natural light available rather than using lightroom as I like to try to capture the real intensity of colours that Nature produces as an artist . I think my choices also involve some sort of stubborn resilience , as in truth , my chronic health disorder , Dysautonomia and EDS , mean that I really should not be able to do certain things that I have always loved in life and in my career as a Land and Nature Artist. This was one of those times that with help from my friends and family I chose to be brave and stick my fingers up at my disability , even though it did require a good few days of bed recovery after I had done it.
