Storytelling Nature landscape Composition Photography taken at Dawn on the longest day of the year. This image was one of the first images I shot during a day of photography exploring the theme of Solstice and our experience with it in a nature setting that provides all the elements as one. I chose the location carefully , spending the whole day between Beaumaris and Penmon Point on the South east corner of the Isle of Anglesey off the North Wales Mainland in the UK. By choosing this above all the stunning locations that my home island affords it allowed me to easily visit two separate shingle beaches which are virtually mirror images of one another giving me the opportunity to photograph the sunrise and sunset during Solstice in virtually identical conditions. The series of images from each on an uncommonly clear and calm day along the Welsh Coastline gave me a collection of composition landscapes that showed both the differentiation , and also the symmetry of sunrises and sunsets on the same day which i will eventually be using to produce some interesting mirror images in the lightroom. At each location I specifically chose a slightly higher POV from the area of focal interest and hoped for a series of differing unstaged human action events to occur within the frame, and luckily the visitors to both beaches did not disappoint. The image is unedited and I chose to use a standard exposure time to capture the natural colours of the morning and to reduce blurring in the movement of the people in the picture. I stepped back some way in this composition to capture the play of light on the grasses in the foreground and to use the rule of thirds both horizontally and vertically. Sunrise Landscape
