Portrait of Stillness and a Garden , taken on the first day I was allowed to go to public places after my Coronavirus Shielding Restrictions ended after more than a year during the Coronavirus Pandemic. The garden in question is the beautiful Bodnant Gardens in Conwy , North Wales in the UK , and this scene is part of a corner of the sunken garden below the main house , shaded by a magnificent tree in the late afternoon sunshine. The image was inspired by a desire to show the subtler contrasts that can be seen when capturing light and shadow , and that this subtlety of light and bring softness to the leading lines , or geometric architectural details , like the edges of the ornamental lake and garden walls in this photograph. Taken at a low POV , at ground level so that the eye is taken up through the image guided by the various lines and subjects in the storytelling view.
