Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo from my backyard. When it snows, I love to get out with my camera and see what interesting things there are to photograph. The snow coats everything, and makes a new white world.

Time

I took this photo about 11:43 in the morning.

Lighting

I just used the natural light from the sun. It was very bright out, with the sun reflecting off the snow.

Equipment

I used my Canon EOS R camera, and my Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM lens at 65mm. The exposure was: f/10, 1/1250, ISO 200.

Inspiration

I saw how the snow outlined the branches, and gave a nice contrast, the birds in the top of the tree are a bonus. The foggy conditions in the background make the tree stand out even more. I thought it was a beautiful scene, and wanted to capture it.

Editing

I made very few changes to the photo. I increased the brilliance, and black point. That's about it.

In my camera bag

I have a Canon EOS R body, along with these lenses: Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8, Canon EF 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5, Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8, Canon 100mm IS USM f/2.8 Macro lens, and Tamron 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC G2 lens. I keep it all in a Lowepro backpack. I have a Sirui tripod with a Manfrotto ball head.

Feedback

Be aware of your surroundings, and interesting weather changes. Go outside and take photos! You never know, inspiration might be in your backyard!
