Behind The Lens

Location

As we were walking during her senior photos we came across this broken down motor home. (Martinsville, IN)

Time

Late afternoon. We were almost done with her shoot and I noticed the light hitting this motor home. When she walked near it we noticed her reflection.

Lighting

With the sun being to the west and low in the sky it made the perfect light for the image. We did throw in a reflector for the catchlight.

Equipment

I'm a Canon gal. I switch between the 5DMarkIV and R5. This one was taken with my 5D and 85 1.4 lens. (the 1.4 lens is my go to! It never misses focus). I never leave home without my trusted reflector.

Inspiration

In color the motor home is silver, red and blue. The colors were amazing.

Editing

The difference between the highlights and shadows made it perfect to process in black & white. I process my photos in lightroom and photoshop. I have Capture One pro but haven't had time to figure it out.

In my camera bag

I never leave home without my Canon 5DMarkIV with the 85 1.4 attached and the R5 with my 35 1.2 for more creative shots. I also can't live without my Spiderholster & Spiderholster strap.

Feedback

Be sure to use a shallow depth of field and most of all pay attention to your sun direction.
