Behind The Lens

Location

I live in Clermont FL and we have a lot of lakes and green areas. This place is close to where I live

Time

This shot was taken around 5:15pm just before sunset

Lighting

Shooting the sunset is always magical and this time was not an exemption. The clouds where perfect and the sun created this great colors in the clouds that I was lucky enough to capture. Having the blues of the sky, the greens of the grass and the orange of the sun created the perfect combination

Equipment

I shoot with the Fujifilm X-T3 and I used the XF8-16mm F2.8 for this shot. I also used my Manfrotto befree carbon fiber tripod

Inspiration

I came to this place looking for some trees to shoot. I have a a personal project called Lonely Tree and I wanted to have a single tree with the sunset behind. Unfortunately I couldn’t get the shot that I actually wanted to take but I was lucky enough to see that something better was forming and the clouds were perfect. I didn’t know about the place until this day. Sometimes things happen for a reason and I was lucky to get the prefect moment

Editing

I did process the shot because I didn’t have any ND filters with me so I have to do some bracketing. I then blended the photos with Lightroom so I could bring all the information like shadows and highlights. I played with layers to bring the attention to the center of the photos plus I increase the colors to the right spot so it was pleasing to see

In my camera bag

I always carry my tripod with me plus all my extra batteries. I have my 8-16mm F2.8, 23mm f1.4 and my 56mm f1.2 in my bag always. And of course my Fuji X-T3 and my Fuji X-Pro 3

Feedback

Patience is the best virtue and I have to say that if you want to capture something similar you have to go out and shoot. You’ll not always have the best conditions but if you do it constantly you’ll find your keeper for sure. Go out and shoot a lot
