Location
This photo was taken in an rental apartment in Hong Kong.Time
The photoshoot was done around early afternoon in a cloudy and dark day.Lighting
In this photo I used both the normal apartment ceiling lighting (which gives the yellow warm tones) as well as 2 flashlights off camera as fillers placed diagonally to the model.Equipment
I used just the camera (Canon 7D MkII body) and the lens (Canon EF 24mm f2.8), which is a very simple "pancake" lens. For the flashlight I used 2 Canon speedlights off camera, triggered by phottix flash triggers.Inspiration
The concept was all around the ropes and the Japanese Shibari in a collaboration with both the model and a rope artist on site that worked on all the knots needed.Editing
light and contrast corrections, a little of skin editing (not heavy tho)In my camera bag
It depends mostly of the concept and above all the location. Since this was done in a small citycenter apartment with very small areas I carried mostly wide angle lens. The 24mm used on this photo and a Tokina 11-16 f2.8 that I used in other shots from the same session. Normally I always carry a 50 1.4 (just in case).Feedback
In tight place, you need to find a way to climb up enough to get this top-to-down angle. In this case I jumped into the back of a sofa as the shot was done on the living-room floor. It was quite challenging as I had to use the screen to frame the photo and I barely could see it as I was leaning forward and holding the camera with only one hand. My advice, a ladder is a good tool if you can have it on the location you are shooting or try to find a place you can climb to a higher viewpoint.
