Behind The Lens

Location

At a hotel room in Macau

Time

late afternoon almost at sunset

Lighting

The light was a very important factor and part of the concept. I was using as much as possible natural light coming from a window on the left of the image, using a flashlight as a fill-in light.

Equipment

this photo was shot on a Canon EOS 7D Mark II, using a Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 lens. It was shot at an aperture f/2.8 ISO 400?Shutter 1/125. I used a flashlight off-camera for the fill-in.

Inspiration

This is a glamour shot and the idea was to play with the warm light coming from the sun and match it with the blonde air of the model. It was also about flow and waves so we used a light fabric robe that waves and flows like the wavy hair of her.

Editing

post-processing to bnw from colors, light corrections

In my camera bag

Canon EOS 7D Mark II, Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 lens. Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 lens Sigma 24-104mm f/4 Art lens Canon speedlight phottix triggers

Feedback

play with the light, take time to see where it hits and what gets lighted or shadowed, play from there orienting the model or yourself to capture the mood you feel happier with. Go for what feels right to you.
