The warm, spring sun peeks over the trees along a secluded trail that winds its way along a riverbank and disappears into the forest. The chill of the night releases its grasp on the land and gives way to the warmth and promise of a new day. An empty bench beckons to those who have chosen to leave the hustle-and-bustle behind and enjoy the peace and solitude that only a path through the forest can provide. It is always wise to take these opportunities to pause along our journey, in quiet introspection, to enjoy the experience and take inventory on all that we have to be thankful for. It is in these moments that we learn the most about ourselves.

Taken at Chalk Ridge Falls Park, in Belton, TX, this photo was the inspiration for one of my paintings. The painting has been sold, but prints are available on my website.
