Our pathway through life leads us through many changes and around many curves. Much like this hiking trail along Pepper Creek, life’s pathway takes us along the edges of forests, through open meadows, beside and over flowing streams as it winds its way through time. The seasons of life, while they change the appearance of the pathway, only add to its beauty. The Spring of life is filled with fresh newness. We learn to weather life’s storms, as we grow and blossom into young adults. During the Summer of life, we gain confidence as we make our way into adulthood, filled with bright, energetic and natural beauty. The winter of our lives, while not as boisterous and colorful as Spring and Summer, is a wonderfully beautiful time of confident peace, wisdom and unmeasurable inner strength, that comes from weathering the turbulent storms of Spring and the sweltering heat and long days of Summer. I captured this image of our trail as it enters Autumn, the transition time, between Summer and Winter. The young, fresh leaves of Summer have started to dry a bit, and the vivid green colors are starting to fade away. However, this is not a somber time, devoid of beauty. On the contrary, Autumn showcases our trail with an explosion of bright, brilliant color. The orange, yellow and red colors deepen and become more vibrant as Autumn progresses and the trees seem to grow stronger and more stately as they prepare for winter. Each season along our trail has its own unique beauty. We need to take the time to fully enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of each season and embrace the coming of the next, as each one is beautiful and fills the soul more than the last.
