This stock pond is located right off of Interstate 35, outside of Bruceville-Eddy, between Temple and Waco, Texas. I drive this route every morning, on my way to work and, finally, noticed the wonderful reflections in the pond. I made plans to get up extra early on this morning, so that I could be set up with my camera well before dawn. I was rewarded for my loss of sleep when, just before the sun reached the horizon, the sky lit up in these beautiful shades of purple, pink, red, orange and blue. The beauty of the scene was beyond words, so I did my best to capture what it felt like to be there. The beauty of nature is all around us, if we will just take the time to notice it. This is just an unremarkable little stock pond that I have, literally, driven by thousands of times. It wasn’t until I started making an effort to see things with an eye toward photography, that I actually noticed what I had been missing. It is amazing how differently you see the world around you when you look at it with the eye of a photographer. You start to notice the subtle differences in the color of light, the rich tonality of highlight, shadow and texture, and suddenly, a whole new world opens up to you.
