Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in my backyard in Foresthill, California.

Time

I shot this photo in the afternoon with the sun bouncing off the pine trees in the far distance.

Lighting

I originally was shooting this shot in a different direction. When I turned around and saw the light bouncing off the pine trees I knew it would make for an interesting back drop. And it did not let me down.

Equipment

For this shot it was simple, I just used my camera free hand.

Inspiration

For the past 3 years I have done Wells Fargo Bank, investment divisions greeting cards for Thanksgiving. Every year I do a shoot exclusively for their customers. I give them 6 different shots to send out to their clients.

Editing

Yes, I always shoot in Raw so first I process my photos through lightroom then I move them over to Photoshop to finish any touch ups I may need.

In my camera bag

For myself it depends what type of photo shoot I will be doing. I have a Nikon D5 camera. I have several different types of lenses so I pack what ever lenses I feel I will need for the shoot. I always bring my tripod in the event I may need it.

Feedback

For this photo natural lighting was everything!!!! Keep your eyes open to what may be a unique opportunity to capture lighting bouncing off of objects to get the perfect background for your photo. But most of all have fun doing it.
