Photo I took of an egret fishing in the wetlands of the Bolsa Chica Ecological Preserve near Sunset Beach, California. I particularly liked the pose of the shorebird with its gaze riveted on possible fish swimming in the shallow water. I also liked the reflection of the egret in the water and contrasting white and blue colors. Although this species is not yet endangered, there may come a time in the foreseeable future when, like so many other species, they are so rare or extinct that photos may be the only evidence we have of these magnificent birds.
