This is one of the premiere surfing competitions in the world, featuring some of the highest waves, and it draws the most competitive surfers. this shot was particularly striking because of the height of the crashing wave as the surfers are poised to descend, the white spray accentuating the power of the surf, and the contrasting blue and white colors against the darker images of the surfers. A memorable photo op.
