Behind The Lens

Location

I live in an area abundant with wildlife, and I enjoy going to the forest nearby to take some photos. Some of the most interesting things there are the amazing insects!

Time

This was taken during the late morning hours. Lighting was an issue, as there was a bright sun overhead (you can see some reflection of that on the eyes).

Lighting

This was probably the worst time of day to take this photo. The bright sunlight reflected off everything! I should have brought my diffuser for such macro shots, but, unfortunately, I left it at home that day.

Equipment

Camera: Panasonic Lumix G9 Lens: Olympus M.Zuiko 60mm f/2.8 Macro

Inspiration

I have always been fascinated by the amazing details nature hides from us under our noses. Case in point - insects have amazing features that you can only observe under the right magnification. Like the eyes of these Robber Flies - just incredible!

Editing

Some slight color correction, and white balance. Not much.

In my camera bag

The above camera and lens, and two more lenses: Panasonic-Leica 100-400mm f/4-6.3, which is my go-to lens for wildlife, and a Panasonic-Leica 12-60 f/2.8-4 for the wider end of the spectrum (landscapes, etc.)

Feedback

To photograph wildlife you need to learn how the animals behave to be able to spot them and catch nice poses. Put in the time to study, then you can get great photos.
