Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at the harbor of the city of Ares in the Aquitaine region in France. The city lies next to the "Bassin d'Arcachon" and the harbor is at the extremity of the city. It feels like you've reached the end of the world!

Time

As the color palette suggests, this photo was taken at sunset, during the golden hour.

Lighting

Cloudy sunsets are, for me, the best kinds of sunsets. The light reflects on the clouds and creates a magical atmosphere. The powerful lights of sunsets also helps having great reflections on water.

Equipment

I took this picture with my very first camera, a Panasonic DMC TZ4.

Inspiration

Sunsets are my favorite subject. Moreover, my family and I were the only people in the harbor at that time so the place was really peaceful. I wanted to use the soft colors of the sunset and the reflections on the still water to translate this peaceful moment and share it.

Editing

I like my photos to be straight out of the camera.

In my camera bag

I always carry my camera with two lenses. I also have a notebook to keep track of every place I visit.

Feedback

Any place near the ocean will be a perfect playground to capture sunsets. I also love using the reflections on water to get great pictures!
