Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken during a trip to the French region of Brittany and precisely in the coastal city of Camaret sur Mer. The city lies around the harbor where the shipyard is located.

Time

This photo was taken in the morning, around 10:30 am. After a quick breakfast of local pastries on the harbor, I decided to check out the shipyard where old ships are put to rest and found the inspiration for this photo.

Lighting

The weather was quite foggy this morning which prevented overexposure from direct sunlight.

Equipment

I used my Nikon D3500 and the 70-300mm lens for zoom.

Inspiration

I always liked photos of old rusted objects that reflects the patina of time. For once, I had the perfect subject to take my own and really enjoyed this subject. For this specific photo I also wanted to capture the multitude of colors of this ship.

Editing

I like my photos straight out of the camera so no processing.

In my camera bag

I am just starting using a Reflex camera so my equipment remain simple: a Nikon D3500 with two lenses: 18-55 and 70-300.

Feedback

I could not recommend enough to visit Brittany; in every city you will find new landscapes and the color of the water is never twice the same. Small harbors always have a quaint feel to me as if the time goes by slower as an invitation to wait for the perfect moment to take your shot. I would also recommend the sunset time to get this wonderful gold reflects on the ships.
