I noticed the cloud line was following the building line and leaned out over the railing as far as I could to get the focal point I wanted. The empty streets made this scene very apocalyptic in nature.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken over the railing of.a parking garage in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana. The monument in the circle is the center focal point of the city and gives the city its nickname Circle City

Time

A few minutes before full sunrise

Lighting

The rising sun gave the photo an eerie quality

Equipment

A Samsung A50 phone camera

Inspiration

I noticed how the clouds followed the lines of the buildings and leaned over the railing to frame up the shot.

Editing

I brought up the tonal contrast on all levels in Snapseed

In my camera bag

I shoot with intent. I normally go out with the appropriate lens for what I want to accomplish and maybe an extra lens in my pocket. I don't normally carry a bag.

Feedback

Composition is key to a shot like this. Your eye is always drawn to a focal point. Where you put said focal point is determined by what you're trying to convey.
