Thien Mu Temple was the home pagoda of the monk who during the Vietnam war set himself on fire to protest in Saigon. On June 11, 1963, Thích Quảng Đức, aged 65 or 66, was a Vietnamese Mahayana Buddhist monk who burned himself to death in Saigon. Photographs of his self-immolation were circulated widely across the world and brought attention to the policies of the Diệm government. This is the automobile of Thích Quảng Đức, seen in the background of the infamous photo of the event.
